Congratulations!

Ph.D. students: Arsalan Khalid (UML) and Lewis Rowles (UT-Austin) are selected as 2018 UML Difference Maker Program Finalists. Their idea "Lead-Ex Filter" was to use nanoparticle-fiber hybrids to ensure lead-free drinking water for Massachusetts residents.

New Project Announcement

Apul Lab won Catalyst Grant ($65,000) awarded by Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to investigate nanotechnology-enabled pre-treatment of sewage sludge for enhanced biogas production in anaerobic digesters.

Dr. Arjun Venkatesan, Research Scientist and Adjunct Professor at Center for Clean Water Technology at Civil Engineering in Stony Brook University, was hosted by Onur Apul on February 23rd at 12:00 pm as a part of Civil and Environmental Engineering Seminar Series. Dr. Venkatesan's presentation title was "Contaminants of Emerging Concern: Environmental Monitoring, Exposure Assessment, and Treatment".

Spring 2018, Civil and Environmental Engineering seminar speaker Dr. Boris Lau hosted by Onur Apul is going to present "A tale of two ligands: Mobilzation of aquatic nanoparticles" on Feb. 9th, Friday at 12:00 pm. The presentation will be held in Southwick Hall Room 240. Dr. Lau is an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UMass Amherst.

Spring 2018, Civil and Environmental Engineering seminar speaker Dr. John Christian hosted by Onur Apul is going to present "National Academies Report on Soil Liquefaction during Earthquakes and Comments" on Jan. 26th, Friday at 3:00 pm. The presentation will be held in Southwick Hall Room 121. Dr. Christian is a Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UMass Lowell and he is an elected National Academy member.

New Publication

Apul group has co-authored a journal article in Journal of American Water Works Association scheduled for publication in June 2018. The article is titled: “Bromide removal from drinking waters using silver-amended coagulation”. The work was lead in Arizona State University by Wenhui Gan, a visiting Ph.D. student from Sun Yat-sen University.
