Arsalan's second article is accepted for publication in Clean Water (Nature Partner Journal). This article investigates the removal of common cannabinoids and their primary metabolites from water using carbon adsorbents. This study was a collaboration between UT-Austin and Clemson University. Dr. Apul's Lab receives funding from Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center for a new project: "Self-Healable, Regenerable Polymer Adsorbents for Low-Energy, Reusable Water Filters". The project is lead by Prof. James Reuther of Chemistry and will provide insights about thermally reversible dynamic polymers for pollutant adsorption/desorption.
Dr. Apul presented their recent work on nano-enabled waste activated sludge pretreatment using microwave irradiation at the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization held in San Diego.
Our new critical review article on microwave pre-treatment of waste activated sludge prior to anaerobic digestion has been accepted for publication. This article will appear in a special issue titled: Biosolids 2020. Congratulations Yigit!
Second year MS student Ritchie LaFaille was announced "3rd Place in Poster Presentation Competition" in the New England Graduate Student Water Symposium at UMass Amherst. The title of his work was "Repeatable Use of Susceptors in Microwave Remediation of Petroleum Contaminated Soils". Congratulations Ritchie!

The day-to-day debate for recreational consumption of cannabis is heated unlike the discussion about consumption of cannabinoid metabolites in drinking water. Stetson Rowles of University of Texas at Austin from Navid Saleh Research Group presented our perspective on transformation of cannabinoids during chlorination in municipal water treatment systems. The presentation was hosted by ACS and was held in San Diego, CA. Congratulations Stetson!
